Tuna Fisherman Killed

To follow up on Rick's post, the body of Capt. Bruce Bartlett of South Plainfield, NJ, was still entangled in the gaff/harpoon line when it was recovered yesterday. Solo fishing from the 35' boat Flat Calm, the tragedy was discovered when another fisherman came across the unmanned boat about 13 miles offshore from Beaufort Inlet (Morehead City, NC, area), and boarded the boat to check for trouble. The man pulled in about 150 feet of line before finding Bartlett's body tangled at the left leg. The fish was still on the line, but got off before the Coast Guard arrived.
