In Response To: Door frame to cabin measurements (John Davis)

I have a 62. I bought my new engine boxes from Glasstech. I sent them a sketch[older 31's have lower decks and boxes need to be "higher" to clear same motor in the newer higher deck style. The boxes fitted with their outside fairing piece extend inside[toward each other]2-3", more than the originals. This brings the boxes closer together than the door opening, as you've noticed. I installed diesels which need large air supply therefore I used the side engine box "overbight" to the side panels to supply eng air. I also shaped and extended the fire wall inward to match the forward engine box shape and seal it forward. Yes it makes the passageway more narrow than the door, but it works great for me. If gas powered, the outside piece could be sectioned and refinished giving you the orig. passage way width.[also I built my door and it opens in].
