Walter, I hurt my back pretty good a few years ago setting a Borg Warner 72C on the dock, and those batteries put me in the hot tub with a stiff bourbon and water last night. Doc (not OUR Doc!)wants to cut on me, but I don't know too many guys who have had really successful back surgery. 8D's have great power, - I put one in a john boat once to run a trolling motor, and the power of the battery combined with it's weight planed the little flat bottom! However, my truck cranks just fine with the two 27 series batteries, and virtually the same Cummins engine as in the boat - and they are going on three years old. I'd heard about the Sam's 8D's, but my understanding was they weren't specifically marine batteries. I think the four smaller battery setup will be fine for my boat and my engines, and I'll watch Andre's progress with the Odyssey batteries in his boat. If I had 8D's and changed them very often, I'd use my neighbor's electric hoist!
