Everyone has their own preference and physical situation on flybridge seating. For years I had a
very comfortable chair that rotated and adjusted. It was built into a factory fiberglass island, which also supported a sturdy fiberglass bench which ran side to side. When Bill Fritz was refinishing my boat I noticed he has a beautiful "bench" on his, well fished, 31 bridge[has tuna tower] It's constructed of alum. frame with a padded back and a grab rail along the back that allows you to easily walk around the whole bridge[and hold onto the bench], yet it's long enough to recline on allowing one to look forward and sternward with ease. I copied the design, but I have kept the Stainless rear rail[no longer on Bill's boat], so for room I moved my grab rail to the top of the bench, still allowing me to easily walk around the whole flybridge, yet have a large stable seat. If someone is sitting with you, in any sea, you don't have to worry about them reaching to hold on to something they shouldn't, its easy and comfortable to hold onto the bench itself. My 2 cents.
