I am sure Dick was referring to putting saddle tanks under the cockpit deck outboard of the stringers. This is were I have mine. I have two 30 gallon fiberglass saddle tanks which works really well.
I would not replace the fiberglass main tank with aluminum just to gain capacity. Dick's right, 12 years give or take with an aluminum tank.
