Ian,

The 30 year scenario is what I was refering to. I had untold numbers of years worth of old paint on the bottom before I decided to clean her up. I had chosen a different route (one that I'll never do again) by using a chemical brush on paint stripper. Not only did this dissolve the paint it also dissolved the gel coat. After pealing off the paint and stripper, I found that I needed to do sanding afterwards. Took care of a few minor hull repairs and then started with the barrier coat. I have since put 3 seasons worth of Micron on the bottom and will see how she looks in a few weeks when we haul out for winter.
