Royce, you sure came to the right place. My view is to buy diesel rather than convert gas to diesel. Let someone else endure the time, patience and money for the conversion. The money is in the mechanicals. Cosmetics are easy. A well maintained B31 will retain or increase in value, we all know that. Look at every one you can find, and get in the bilge with a flashlight and look for rust and sloppy-ness in the mechanical systems. Talk to the owner, not the broker, and size the guy up - is he an idiot, a numb-nuts, a flake? Or does he care about the boat; does he appear to have the broad shoulders to maintain it? Why is he selling? Probe deep, and don't be bashful. If the owner won't talk to you, only go thru the broker, chances are you should pass. All of us here will be happy to answer any questions.
