A missonary from Papa New Guinea, who's Yanmar diesel outboard I've rebuilt twice from his sailing around the world three times has told me of increased piracy around the world due to many nations outlawing the possesion of firearms to protect yourself.
The pirates know this and have gotten bolder.
There is currently an Aussie, that has been boarded and robbed, and had friends murdered, in custody in Bali for not declaring weapons on board. They confiscated his 150' boat and is facing a long prison term. The first mate has also said goverment troopers have looted the boat of its valuables.
