I spent some time on the original Maritimer 32 with the designer Charlie Jannace on year in Fort Lauderdale. He was unapologetic that he had copied and tried to improve the Bertram 31. His boat had a lot of very sophisticated (for its time) coring to keep the weight down. He never had enough capital to keep it going and wound up selling the molds to Blackfin who made it out of solid glass, thus gaining a lot of weight.They are good boats, but many of them have Detroit 8.2 engines which have a lot of heating problems which can ruin the engines very quickly. Due to the configuration of the engine room, it was hard to repower them at the time, thus the 33 came to be. Today I would think there are lots of repower options that would make the faster and more nimble. I have always liked them.
