Bottom paint

A tenant is moving out of my father in law's warehouse so he has offered me free heated winter storage. The only thing I will not be permittted to do is paint the bottom. Thinking of throwing on a coat in the next few days since weather is good. Is there any downside to painting 5 months before launch? My father felt that most of the paints are designed to be immersed within a short time after painting for full effectiveness. Just curious.
