It all depends on how you will use the boat. We are in so. calif. and serious fishermen. Typical one way trip to fishing grounds is 25-60 miles. Best electronic investment was autopiolet connected to gps. Radar is a must if you plan to run at night, or operate where you may get into rain or fog. Size of dome or array is more important than unit for good radar picture. If you are not familiar with reading a fish finder try to find a class where they show you how before you buy the unit. This will help you decide what you need for your use. An expensive unit with lots of bells is still only as good as your ability to interpert the picture.
