Don't ruin a good thing. I had an old Nova hull and in an effort to recycle what was initially a pretty good boat, I removed the beat 302 Ford and outdrive and replaced it all with an Armstrong Bracket and 200 Evinrude. The boat ran fast, but it took a lot of work to get the balance right. It was nice reclaiming all that cockpit space but you will also have to do a lot of reinforcement of the transom since a 200 hanging almost 3 feet off the transom won't last long if you don't. And of course, you'll have to patch up the old outdrive hole and figure out how cover up the void left by the engine hatch cover you will no longer need, then paint it all up. By the time you factor in the cost of a 200 Outboard, the bracket and all the other stuff, you'd be better off investing in a new motor and outdrive. Besides, the boat will never be worth what you put into it if you go the bracket route and it probably won't perform nearly as well as originally engineered. If your trying to save a buck, I don't think this is the way to do it. You would be better off selling the boat as is. Good luck.
