I had a simular problem last winter but with Big Blocks. The bolts holding the bracket on to the block were too long and just got them out as the hit the fly wheel. They would not go back in so I used a grinder and took off a thread and a half to shorten the bolts. It worked!

The pumps were old- maybe twelve yrs old so we got new ones.
