Chiles, you are chasing your tail on this. There is no fuze in the positive battery cable going to the starter, just a switch. If you hook the output lug from the alternator to the starter battery cable lug and turn the battery switch off while the engine is running, you fry the alternator voltage regulator bridge. On the other hand, if you go straight to the battery, or at least the battery side of the switch (if you don't want too many attachments to the battery terminal), that eliminates the problem. Just wire it carefully, use plenty of wire ties, and trust your workmanship to keep it from chafing and shorting, just like you do your battery cables.

Like Southwest Airlines, point A to point B is better than going thru a hub.
