Exhaust System Upgrade

I am redoing exhaust hoses and at moment am trying to rmove an old cast iron elbow from a 5" exhaust hose without damaging the hose. What do the faithful think? I am stumped. Also I read previously about using Thead clamps but remember some comments here about galling, I can't remember. Any thoughts would be great.
