Use Penetrox on all electrical joints, available at any electrical supply house. Silicone grease with powdered copper in it. Also use Tef-Gel on the threads of any bolts or screws. The potions available today, like Corrosion X, are so much better than a few years ago that there is no excuse for corrosion on a boat any more. My camp neighbor's wife brought me her battery charger for her cordless drill today and said it didn't work any more. I put the VOM on it, and sure enough it was dead. It was 14.4 volt deal, so I brought it home and got out my box of discarded wall plug in power blocks and sure enough, found a 15v one. Hooked it up to her connector and it worked. So cut the wires, checked the polarity twice, and soldered the wires, then put Penetrox on the joint, then heat shrinked the joints, then a bigger heat shrink over it all.
It is so easy to do it right, and once. Ya'll take all those crimp electrical connectors and pitch them in the bayou. Strip, clean, linear wrap, solder, Penetrox, then heat shrink with the glue inside and be done with it.
