Plumbing the heater is a breeze. The trick is to keep it below the level of the fresh water cooling system. The fill cap needs to be the highest point in the system, so if you mount the heater up high, you need to extend the fill to a higher point.
The heater operates just like the heat in your car. You plumb it in line with your fresh water system, on the hot side of the heat exchanger.
Then you run insulated dryer vent from the outlets to wherever you want heat. I used a length of 4" pvc pipe to go from behind the refrigerator to the fly bridge. I'll try to remember to take some pictures this weekend. Hell...I sure won't be fishing...
But there's another solution. It's a little more expensive, but still much cheaper than reverse cycle+gen set. Espar makes a small, diesel fired furnace that's quiet, efficient, and thermostatically controlled. I actually have one installed in my van, (Airtronic 2) and it's great. I've had it for almost a year and so far I have no complaints. About $1500 will fix you up just fine, and it runs off of the diesel in your tank. Power and fuel usage are next to nothing. Probably looking at the Airtronic 4 for the boat.
I didn't want to endorse their product until I was pretty sure about it, but I'm fairly well satisfied that it's the real deal.
