Bow rail question

I replaced the little 2x3 aluminum plates that rotted away under my front bow rail supports. I also sealed the top sides up real well while I was at it. I'm guessing the B28's are made the same way. Here is my issue;

When I tightened up the STB side, water started dripping out. It also tightened down (collapesd) more then I think it should. It's real hard to get to them from inside the bow locker, and that's the only way I can. The other rail supports appear to have no way to get to them at all unless I remove the carpet and cut holes behind what ever is lining the top of the V-Berth.

What would you guys do?
