JK,
I just got the C80 and have it setup as a chartplotter for now. I can't add the sounder until after I pull this winter. So far I like it, but haven't had a chance to really use it. I chose the bronze tri-ducer 600w, it has speed, depth & temp. The regular bronze transduce is just a depth (I've got one for the st40 depth gauge). The Hi output is the 1kw unit & I think Burce gave a good desc. narrow beam, reads the bottom real well.
Also, call and talk to SeaTek & Consumers marine. Both are more than willing to answer questions.
I've got an old Furuno Radar which still works, so won't be going for the overlay any time soon. Though it is one of the main reasons I bought the Raymarine. Also, I liked the fact that for $177 the navionics chip covers mid-Jersey to South Carolina, including the Chesapeake.
Good Luck on your work, I'm looking fwd to seeing SeaNile at Atlantic City next year.
