Chris,
Cruise speed and RPM is both a personal choice and limited mainly by sea conditions... The important thing to do whenever you take the boat out is to check your WOT RPMs at least once per trip.
You should be turning 3875 - 3900 RPM at WOT for the 6LP if you're propped correctly. A few minutes at WOT assures you that you're making the RPMs. I usually do this twice on a day's run. Once at the start of the day & once at the end of the day.
By doing this some problems can be detected early and corrected. By not doing it, one day you realize that you're at your "normal" cruise RPM & speed, but it's taking the full throw of the throttles to get there and you've been lugging the engines for who knows how long...
Best regards,
Patrick
