Exhaust valve stem seals were breaking down on early engines. The fix came thru about two years ago.
It caused the exhaust valves to hang up. It was also caused by carbon buildup on under turned engines.
Replacement seals are available for older engines but out of all the older 6LP engines I service, only 1 ever needed the fix.I exclusively use Shell Rotella 15w40.
You might take an oil sample in to have checked also at next oil change.
Check your air intake foam filters around the breather hose for oil wetness.
If one was doing it, there could be other minor things but the chance that both have the same problem is slim. Look for a common denominator.
When you take the fuel sample in, let them know you suspect an engine oil mix.
FlowScan also said they have been having trouble with some of their units in the NE area and also suspect an oil issue coating the rotor in the sensor.
