Steve: I have a B28 with 170 Yanmars. Two years ago, I looked into upgrading to the 240 Yanmars since there was a guy here that was interested in my engines for his B28. They were going to give me $16k for both engines w/out the clutches. He was going to buy my shafts, couplings, packing glands, Racors, strainers, props and struts. He would also have to replace his fuel lines, add return lines, upgrade to 4" exhaust, ventilate the engine room and upgrade engine mounts and beds. His final bill was going to be around $32k. My bill was also going to be about $32k. I decided to keep the 170's. They push the boat around 18-21 kts depending how hard you want to run them. I choose to cruise at 2900 rpm at 18.5-19 kts. They only burn 9 gph total at that speed. Slow and steady.
Good luck on your decision.
