Chiles,
Insurance is literally a crap shoot. They, (the Bookies), are betting nothing will happen & you on the other hand are betting that something will happen...
Obviously, the odds are in their favor or insurance wouldn't be one of the most profitable industries in the land. But like lightning, somebody gets struck daily and the next bolt might have your name on it. Of course the odds are far greater that there's no bolt assigned to you. Question is "How Lucky Do You Feel?"
I tend to be one of the gamblers who under-insures my personal property, and goes for the high deductible then.
Jack the trailer up, block it off the ground, and remove the wheels. That will pretty much eliminate the whole thing from being stolen. Remove those items that are easily ripped off, such as electronics and store them in the house or garage.
As for trees falling, figure which tree(s) are in jeopardy of falling on the boat and run a guy wire from the tree to the ground so that "IF" it falls, it won't be allowed to lay across your hard top.
Following these directions, forget the insurance and bet with the bookies rather than against them.
But if you need financial piece of mind, the 3 bucks and partial coverage is better than none "IF" something really does happen...
My Custom Harley is valued at well over 30K, but I only have it insured for stock book value. If I insured it for replacement value I'd be paying over 2K a year in premiums.
Best regards,
Patrick
