I like you, over the years have discovered a broken side window twice while sitting at the dock, and once in a very rough sea. In each instance, we discovered by running our fingers around the inside of the frame after cleaning out the glass remnants, that the cause was a screw or two that had backed out of the frame and applied an undue pressure on (in my case) the tempered glass edge and shattered it. Seems like the combination of motion, moisture, shrinking and swelling can do that, and that tight fits are more succeptable than loose. If your new windows are still sliders, its not a bad idea to slide them in the opposite direction once or twice a season and tighten those frame screws. Walter
