removing the dinette

I want to remove the dinette seating in my 31 and run a fore to aft bench. Mostly to gain a wider floor for easier passage inside the house. The red bertram at Newport was configured so that the sedan floor was at one level and wider by a foot or so. Only in that instance they chose to make the dinette seats facing but at single width. Anyone done this? Please advise as to how to remove the current
set-up and build the bench without undue difficulties. Problems? Suggestions?
