Patrick, yes, I'm suggesting a second pump to boost the fuel up to the original one. When I became the Steward of AJ some 10 years ago, she had a one cyl. Farryman genset that had the inline fuel pump to assist the engine driven lift pump. The Farryman genset was a pain, conked out, and I put the 5.5 KW 3 cyl. Phasor outboard of the port engine like you have, same place the Farryman was. Since the Phasor had a much bigger cam driven lift pump, I eliminated the inline electric lift pump in the install. Wrong - it would run OK at rest or in calm water, but when it got rough, the Phasor would starve out and quit, then start back up and run for a while, then starve out again. Put the aux. in-line pump back in and not another problem in 9 years, other than one clogged Racor 500 (might be a good idea to change the Racor element for the genset more often than 9 years, UV) and one loose oil filter, both of which shut it down.

Think my in-line is an AC Delco, but not sure, and don't know the capacity, but just about anything that will boost the fuel up will work. My configuration is a ball valve in the fuel line from the tank near the genset, then the aux. in line pump, then the Racor, and the line from the Racor goes to the mechanical lift pump on the Kubota engine.

The problem you (and me) were having was the mounting of the genset on that high shelf outboard of the main engine means that the little lift pump has to draw fuel up a very high head, say if the tank is half full, probably close to 4 feet, and that's just too much to ask of a little pump trying to suck heavy diesel oil that high. It needs help. Know several Faithful who have had the same problem and the in line pump is always the solution.

Look forward to seeing you at FLL.
