I had a similar problem that was caused by the genset not charging it's own battery. Though when mine kicked out it typically wouldn't restart.

This was fixed when my wiring was fixed & now the charge charges the genset battery and is on anytime the gen is running.

Perhaps you could meter the battery & watch for any voltage drop.
