Thanks. I didn't have time to do a fancy drawing like Pat. Scribble and scan.

A starter relay is not intended for keeping the coil on for more than a couple of minutes. It will burn out and the coil on those relays will spike voltage unless a capacitor is added across the coil terminals.
It doesn't matter for say a push button or key switch but the timer at 30 bucks won't have a MOV on the output and it could toast the timer.
Those square jobs can be had for 20 bucks or less and handle 30 amps.
